Elite Men, U23 Men, and Elite Women From the UCI Rule 5.1.043: The start order of events is determined as follows: b) In other events except the world championships: Elite Men and Women and Under 23 Men: as per the latest published individual UCI Cyclo-cross Classification.
Start Order will be determined by UCI points from highest to lowest as per the latest published individual UCI Classification. This classification can be found on the UCI Website under the subsection Cyclocross, then Rankings. The start order will be corresponding with each rider's Start / Bib Number for those holding UCI ranking points.
Procedurally, USGP staff will determine how many rows will be cordoned off and all riders, those ranked and those unranked, must remain behind this cordon. With ten (10) minutes to start, the Race Announcer will begin introducing, in the elite men's race, the first two (2) rows (16 riders), and, in the elite women's race, the front row (8 riders). These top riders will be introduced in the Finish Area and then proceed to the Start Area Grid to fill in their respective rows. Simultaneously, USGP staff will call-up the remaining rows of UCI ranked riders. Prior to race day, all remaining registered riders without UCI ranking points will be randomly sorted and assigned a number. On race day, these unranked riders will then be called up in numerical order to fill the remaining rows.
Riders are advised to report 15 minutes before their respective start. If riders are not present with 10 minutes to start and miss their call-up, they will lose their start grid position.
Junior 17, 18 From the UCI Rule: 5.1.043 The start order of events is determined as follows: b) In other events except the world championships: Juniors: By drawing lots.
Start Order for Junior 17, 18 riders will be determined by drawing lots at the time of registration. Each Junior Rider will be allowed to draw, at random, a Start / Bib number. The number drawn will be their Bib / Start number. They will be called up in numerical order. Note: Masters 45+ and Masters 55+ will start 1-2 minutes after UCI Junior 17, 18's.
Master 35+ Men For the first race weekend of the 2007 series, Master 35+ men will be called up based on the 2006 USGP Masters 35+ ranking. On subsequent race weekends, all Masters 35+ men will be called up in order of the latest USGP ranking from the previous weekend. Also, the start order will be the same for both Saturday and Sunday of a given USGP race weekend. One row of eight (8) remaining Masters 35+ men with points from host venue’s regional/local series MAY then be called up. Prior to race day, all registered riders without USGP ranking points will be randomly sorted and assigned a number. On race day, these unranked riders will then be called in numerical order to fill the next rows. Finally, any riders registering on the day of the race will fill the remaining rows.
All non-USGP category events: (Cat 4 Men, Cat 3/4 Women, Junior 10-16, Cat 2/3 Men, Masters 45+ and Masters 55+):
Start Order for these categories will be determined by any current regional/local rankings (e.g. Ohio Valley Cyclocross Series, MAC Series, and CrossCrusade Series).
